About Us
After living in the Waikato for over 3 years, Brad, an avid fisher (his dad will tell you he’s been fishing since he could walk!), was missing the ease of getting out on the water.
After being in the building industry for over 7 years and ready for a new challenge, he and wife Kylee decided to take a leap of faith and purchased ReelTuff in early 2023.
“As a family owned and operated business, we care about our customers and go the extra mile to ensure that you will have a fun-filled day packed with fishing action!”
Since buying the business, we have been working on a few improvements to improve your comfort and convenience. Along with this new website, we have introduced a new booking system, introducing efficiencies for you to book online. We also have some other awesome new features for our vessel, Grunty One including clears to protect you from the wind, rain and spray when motoring to and from the spot.
Brad, his wife Kylee and father Mike, work together to take others out on the water to have fun, and hopefully achieve their personal best when it comes to landing a good one.

Brad Wooderson
Owner/Operator and Skipper on Grunty One
Brad is a seasoned fisherman, fishing since he could walk. He spent his childhood fishing with his Dad, Mike and grandfather as often as he could.
From surf-casting to long-line fishing off the beach, kayak to boat fishing, he’s done it all. Now he’s ready to share his skills and use his passion to take other keen fishers out for a day of action. His favourite part of being a skipper on a charter boat is he gets to meet new people every day and share his knowledge with them. Brad gets a kick out of watching his guests reel in some beauties and recently helped a guest land a 20 pounder, one of those bucket list fish that you never forget!
Kylee Wooderson
Right-hand lady (Owner/Administrator and Deckhand)
Wife to Brad and co-owner of Reel Tuff, Kylee is a keen fisher and is loving her new role as a hands-on host on Grunty One. Her friendly, outgoing personality makes her a great deckhand, ready to lend a hand or an ear to everyone on board. She loves chatting to people about their lives and their passion for fishing and is happiest when out on the water, alongside Brad.
When Brad and Kylee aren’t showing their guests a great time, they love spending time with family and their pets Bella and Badger!
Grunty One
Our Charter Boat
Grunty One is our awesome boat and she really is grunty! She doesn’t like to muck around, so we’ll have you on the spot in no time.
Equipped with all the gear and bait you need, onboard toilet and basin for washing up and comfortable seating, you can sit and enjoy the ocean views while we motor to and from the wharf.
With our crew, you’ll have plenty of help to land those keepers and take home dinner for the family!
Don’t let not owning a boat or a lack of fishing experience stop you from chasing Snapper!
Our crew will help you master the art of baiting and dropping your line in the water, showing you how to reach the bottom or mid-depth if that’s where the fish are holding.
All you have to do is show up, drop a line in the water and haul in your catch of the day!
